Title: Borussia Dortmund Thumps Bayer Leverkusen, Brandt's Assists and Adeyemi's Goal Lead First Win of Season
Borussia Dortmund have won their first game of the season with a comfortable victory over Bayer Leverkusen at the Allianz Arena.
The match was played in front of a packed stadium and saw both teams struggle to find any rhythm early on. However, it was only when Brandt scored his second goal for Dortmund that things began to settle down. The German international opened the scoring in the 19th minute after a corner kick from the left side of the pitch was headed into his path by Kevin Goldstein.
Brandt's assist gave Leverkusen a chance to level the score before Dortmund responded with their own goal. After a corner kick was cleared off the line by Leverkusen's defender, Christian Benteke fired home a powerful effort that curled past Leverkusen goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel.
It was a stunning display of skill and determination from both sides as Dortmund continued to dominate possession and create opportunities throughout the match. It was no surprise then when they were able to take the lead just five minutes later.
Adeyemi made history for the club as he became the first player in Bundesliga history to score in his first ever league game. The forward scored his opener in the 28th minute after a long-range header from the right wing of the pitch.
Despite being heavily involved in the game, however, it was not enough to stop Leverkusen from winning the match. The team managed to maintain their composure and keep Dortmund at bay until the final whistle.
With this win, Dortmund has now recorded their first win of the season, which is significant given how tough the campaign has been so far. The team will be looking to continue building momentum and securing a place in the Champions League next season.
