Hertha BSC has announced the appointment of former Borussia Dortmund coach Thomas Tuchel as their new head coach.
Tuchel, who was sacked by Dortmund earlier this month after they failed to secure a place in the Champions League, will take over at Hertha BSC from the end of the season.
The German football club said that Tuchel's appointment is part of their strategy to fight relegation from the Bundesliga and return to Europe's elite league next season.
Tuchel, who spent six years at Dortmund, is known for his tactical acumen and ability to motivate players. He led Dortmund to two consecutive Bundesliga titles and also won the DFB-Pokal in 2014.
In a statement released by Hertha BSC, chairman Jupp Heynckes said: "We are delighted to welcome Thomas Tuchel back to Hertha BSC. His experience and knowledge of German football make him the perfect candidate for our team."
Tuchel will be working with the current squad, which includes several young talents such as Christian Pulisic, who recently signed for Chelsea from Dortmund.
The appointment of Tuchel comes just days after Hertha BSC suffered a 5-1 defeat against Eintracht Frankfurt in their opening game of the season.
Despite the setback, Hertha BSC remains hopeful of achieving success under Tuchel's leadership. The club hopes that he can bring them back to the top flight of German football and compete for major honours.
Tuchel's arrival at Hertha BSC is sure to be a significant boost for the club, especially given the talent they have on their books. With his experience and knowledge of the game, it is likely that he will be able to turn things around for the club and help them achieve their goals.
