Bayern Munich secured their second consecutive Bundesliga victory on Sunday evening, thanks to a dominant display from the team that included a brace from Harry Kane and a standout performance from Jude Bellingham.
The match was a tightly contested affair with both teams displaying excellent attacking play throughout the game. Bayern, however, had the upper hand in terms of possession and created several clear-cut opportunities for Kane and Bellingham to score.
Kane opened the scoring in the 25th minute after capitalizing on some poor defending from the Cologne defence. He capitalized on a mistake by Cologne goalkeeper Kevin Trapp and slotted home from close range to give Bayern the lead.
The German giants continued to dominate proceedings and were able to increase their lead in the 76th minute when Bellingham scored his first Bundesliga goal since January. The 18-year-old midfielder picked up the ball on the right wing and played a pinpoint pass into the box, where Kane headed home unmarked to make it 2-0.
Cologne, despite having a number of chances of their own, could not find the back of the net as Bayern held on to win 2-0.
The result means that Bayern have now won their last three games in all competitions, including a 4-0 thumping of Werder Bremen in the DFB-Pokal quarter-finals earlier this week. They sit top of the table and are well placed to secure another domestic treble this season.
Meanwhile, Cologne will be disappointed with their defeat, but they can take heart from the fact that they have now kept a clean sheet in each of their last two matches. They will be hoping to bounce back against Augsburg next weekend.
