Nantes have taken three points from their clash with Lens on Saturday evening in Ligue 1 football.
The match saw both sides struggle to create any clear-cut chances and the game remained goalless until the second half when Lens forward, Kévin Fofana, scored two goals in quick succession to put them ahead.
Despite the strong performance by Fofana, it was ultimately Nantes who claimed victory thanks to a late equaliser from substitute, Benjamin Bourigeaud.
With the win, Nantes remain in sixth place in the league table, just one point behind fifth-placed Nice.
Meanwhile, the opening game of the season for Ligue 2 side, OpenDA, saw them come out on top against rivals, Les Herbiers.
OpenDA dominated much of the first half, creating several chances but were unable to find the back of the net.
However, they finally broke through in the 88th minute when midfielder, Benjamin Dombi, scored his first goal for the club.
With the win, OpenDA move up to third place in the table, just one point behind leaders, FC Sochaux-Montbéliard.
In other news, French football fans will be eagerly awaiting the return of the Coupe de France final, which has been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The final is scheduled to take place at the Stade de France in Paris on May 24th and will see the winner of the previous round face off against the runner-up from last year's competition.
For now, French football fans can look forward to the return of the Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 seasons, as well as the upcoming international break, which should provide some relief from the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the pandemic.
